Armed robbery at Colonial Heights gas station caught on camera

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — An armed robbery at a convenience store in Colonial Heights Sunday afternoon was caught on camera, and authorities hope the footage will help lead them to a suspect.

The video starts with a masked man walking into the Refresh convenience store on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights. The man walks in and points a gun at the clerk, demanding money.

No one was hurt, but the thief did get away with an undisclosed amount money.

The man took the money and ran out and around the back of the building, according to police. Brenda Spain, who lives nearby, thinks the crook jumped her fence and ran through her backyard to get away.

“The gate wasn’t latched properly and an area where I keep my kids’ toys was a little shuffled, the tarps went where they were,” Spain said. “Having a gun makes me nervous.”

Police say they are following leads but are asking anyone with information to come forward. If you know anything, call the Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers at (804) 748-0660.

Meanwhile, neighbors are remaining vigilant.

“Immediately told my husband to make sure everything was locked up, the house, the cars, everything,” Spain said.
