Hopewell woman shot in neck while sitting in her house

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Police are reporting that early Saturday morning a woman was shot while sitting in her living room.

Police said that the incident occurred when a 62-year-old woman was sitting on her couch in the 2100 block of Cloverdale Avenue when she felt a sudden pain in her neck.

The investigation revealed that an unknown offender fired a single shot through a window that hit the woman in the back of the neck.

The woman was transported to VCU Medical Center where she is currently being treated.

No motive is known at this time. Hopewell police are asking for any information that may lead to the arrest of the offender who committed this crime.
