RPD identify homicide victim found at scene of crashed car

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Richmond have identified the man who they say they found dead in a car Friday afternoon.

Police said they found George M. Carrington III dead near a vehicle in the 600 block of Milton Street around 5:40 p.m. Friday.

Carrington was only 17-years-old, according to an Associated Press source.

Officers found Carrington after hearing a loud crash and discovering an overturned white Buick sedan. Carrington was found outside of the vehicle dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

8News spoke with a neighbor who resides in the area.

“Me and my family were in there watching a movie when we heard the crash,” explained Judy Clark, who was inside a home on Missouri Avenue when the scene began to develop. “I just wanted to know what was going on.”

No suspect information has been released at this time as police continue to investigate.

Another neighbor, Skip Stovall, told 8News he believes it may take some time to find the person responsible, depending on how far the victim drove after initially being injured.

“Nobody’s seen anything except when they crashed; we heard that,” he said.
