HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Ashland Holiday Parade is taking place today and will be impacting traffic throughout the area between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

While the actual parade doesn’t begin until 2:15 p.m., Police will begin closing streets associated with the parade route at 11 a.m.

The following roads will be affected:

  • Route 54 from Medical Drive to Henry Street
  • Hanover Avenue between Lee Street and Duncan Street
  • Henry Street between Route 54 and Archie Canon Drive

Other streets connecting to the parade route may have limited access as well. Police said all affected roadways should reopen by 6 p.m.

To avoid delays, police recommend that drivers use Ashcake Road as an alternative route.

Beyond the traffic closure, parking is also closed along the entire length of Henry Street from England Street to Archie Cannon Drive.

Any vehicles parked on Henry Street will be towed beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
