RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Richmond city councilwoman Reva Trammell welcomed mayor-elect Levar Stoney to the 8th district Thursday night while complaining about her relations with outgoing Richmond mayor Dwight Jones.
“(Mayor-elect Stoney) wants to work with me. That’s a breath of fresh air after eight years of hell with Mr. Mayor,” Trammell told 8News.
Stoney spent the evening on what his team called a “thank you” tour, visiting citizens across the city. Stopping by an 8th district meeting at the Satellite Restaurant and Lounge, he promised to make city services more efficient for taxpayers.
“Can you imagine waiting for a pizza for three hours? You’ve already paid for it,” Stoney analogized.
“You wait, and you wait, and you wait, and they deliver it to you and it’s cold! That’s just like everything we’ve been doing in the city the last couple of years. You’ve waited, and it’s time to deliver.”
Mayor-elect Stoney also made stops at a 9th district meeting and a Ginter Park Association meeting, as well as speaking to members of the Museum District Association. He will take the oath of office on New Year’s Eve.
