RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI are asking people to be vigilant, plan ahead, and be prepared for security during the holidays.
Homeland Security says the department is concerned violent extremists could be inspired to plan attacks with little or no notice.
That’s why they are asking people to stay informed and have a security plan in place during the holiday season and while traveling — especially at public events.
The department is also asking people to be aware of their surroundings, report any suspicious activity to their local police department, carry emergency contacts and medical information them, and take note of emergency exits and locations where police and security are standing by.
