Victim identified in fatal Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police detectives have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that took place Sunday morning in the Elkhardt neighborhood as Jovante R. Jackson, 25, of the 2900 block of N. Parham Road.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, multiple calls reporting random gunfire and one call in reference to a person shot were received. Officers responded and located Jackson, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, lying in the parking lot. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives are working this shooting as a death investigation at this time.
