PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A total of 71 people were arrested during protests in Portland on Saturday evening, police say.
The Portland Police Bureau said it told protesters numerous times to vacate city streets, but road flares and bottles were thrown at officers.
Of the 71 arrested, 67 were booked into the Multnomah County Jail, and 5 were given criminal citations. All of the individuals arrested were also given a traffic citation for failure to obey a police officer.
A large group of those arrested was taken into custody around 11 p.m. at Southwest Stark Street and Broadway Street, police said. A TriMet bus was called to transport all of them to police headquarters.
Early on Sunday morning, a PPB vehicle was vandalized with spray paint.
This brings the total of those arrested since protests began last week to 113, according to police.
