INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Authorities are investigating a shooting in Indianapolis that sent two to the hospital Sunday morning.
Authorities said that a mother and daughter were shot at a residence.
Preliminary investigations have determined that the child accidentally shot herself and her mother when she grabbed a gun from the nightstand and shot herself in the cheek. The bullet then hit her sleeping mother in the back of the head.
The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of East 44th Street just after 8:00 a.m.
The 4-year-old child was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health to treat her wounds.
The mother’s condition is not known at this time.
