RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Visitors of the alien, holiday and ghostly varieties are all waiting for you at the theaters this weekend.
Earth may or may not be under attack when strange alien discs appear over cities across the globe in “Arrival”. An elite team of scientists led by a linguist, played by Amy Adams, is trying to figure out what these extra-terrestrial visitors are planning. Co-starring Jeremy Renner and Forrest Whittaker. The sci-fi drama is rated PG-13.
“Almost Christmas” finds members of one big dysfunctional family trying to get along at the request of the patriarch, played by Danny Glover. He has them all spend five days over Christmas at their family home. The comedy stars Monique, Gabrielle Union, JB Smoove and Romany Malco. It is rated PG-13.
“Shut in” is the story of a therapist, played by Naomi Watts, who fears she is being haunted by the ghost of a young boy she once treated. He has gone missing and she fears he is dead. The horror thriller is rated PG-13.
“Moonlight” is the story of one man’s journey told during three important chapters of his life. We see him as a child, as a high schooler and then later as an adult. The film stars Ashton Sanders, Janelle Monae and Naomie Harris. It’s rated R.
