Petersburg shooting victim flown to VCU with life-threatening injuries

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Petersburg Police are investigating a shooting that left one man hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they responded to the incident at 4:35 p.m. in the 400 block of St. Matthews Street near Virginia Avenue. Once on scene, they located one victim and transported him to Southside Regional Medical Center. The victim was later flown to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

“Police are continuing to search for evidence and speak to all potential witnesses for more information into this shooting,” the Petersburg Police Department said in a release.
