1 person displaced after apartment fire in North Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the 4300 block of North Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Richmond Fire crews tell 8News when firefighters arrived at the two-story apartment building around 2:30 a.m., fire crews saw smoke coming from the roof of the building. When firefighters made their way inside, there was smoke coming from the kitchen.

There was one person inside at the time of the fire, but they are expected to okay.

Fire crews on scene said at this time, the person will be displaced and RFD is in contact with the building’s maintenance personnel to find a place for the resident to temporarily stay.

The fire is now under control and the cause is under investigation.
