Suspect strikes, attempts to rob man in Monroe Park

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An attempted robbery took place in Monroe Park Sunday night.

Authorities said at approximately 8:09 p.m., the VCU Police Department responded to 12 North Belvidere Street for the report of a strong arm robbery.

The victim told police he was walking through Monroe Park when he was approached by the suspect and struck. The suspect then attempted to take the victim’s wallet, but was unsuccessful.  The suspect was last seen running east towards Belvidere Street, police said.

The suspect is described by police as being a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black beanie hat with a grey hoodie and black shoes. The suspect was also described as having a noticeable gap in his front teeth.
