Richmond Police: Victim dies at hospital after being shot multiple times

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police said that the victim of a shooting on the city’s southside early Sunday has died.

William D. Norwood, 30, of Caulder Street was found early Sunday morning suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and unresponsive.

Police say the incident happened in the 2700 block of Hull Street near Midlothian Turnpike some time before 1:15 a.m. when they received the call.

Norwood was transported to the hospital, but at 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning he was pronounced dead.

Lt. Donald Davenport, who is investigating the crime said that he would like to interview people who were in the area, or others who may have known the victim.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have information about Mr. Norwood – his activity that night and possible associates,” Davenport said. “We have interviewed a Good Samaritan who stopped to render aid, but there were others in the area, too, last night. We would like them to give us a call.
