Ashland holds 13th annual Train Day

ASHLAND, Va. (WRIC) — The heart of Ashland was home to one of the most notable family-friendly events Saturday with Ashland Train Day.

They had model trains, train rides for kids and even mascots. Cinder and Tinder Bear made an appearance at the event.

People dressed up as train engineers. Organizers say it’s all about taking joy in the simple things that really matters.

“It’s the adults. You find out the child comes out in every adult when the train goes because every father becomes a young boy once again when that train goes by,” said author Doug Riddell, who attended the event

This was the 13th annual celebration and to make it more special this year, the Virginia 150th anniversary Civil War History Mobile was also on hand.
