RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Week 9 is here and Robb is holding on to a two-game lead over the rest of the field. With 8 weeks left, will Robb hold his lead or will Ron, Will, Mitch catch up to him?

As always, feel free to play along at home.

king-robbRobb Crocker, 8News Digital Content Manager (Last week – 6-2, Overall – 43-21)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Hermitage Panthers

No one beats the Rebels on their home field, except the Panthers.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

Virginia Tech takes it on the road by 14.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

This game will be close but Alabama will win by nine.

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

If this game was in Charlottesville, I would pick the Wahoos. Instead, I predict that they lose by one.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

This was a hard pick. JMU might be the better team but Richmond is battle tested. Spiders by three.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

This is not a good Ravens team. I like Pittsburgh’s chances.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: New York Giants

Let down game for the Eagles. And New York needs this game more than Philly.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

Oakland is a different team at home for some odd reason.

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Hermitage Panthers

In most big games I’ll always go with the Panthers and I see them handing the Rebels their 1st loss of the season.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

Hokies will get their 3rd straight win as they control their own destiny to win the ACC Coastal with 4 games remaining.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide defense should shut down Leonard Fournette and hand the Tigers their first loss since Ed Orgeron became the interim coach.

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Cavaliers came so close to pull off the biggest upset this season against Louisville but now face the Demon Deacons who are a win away from being bowl eligible.  I see UVA losing 4-straight games.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

Big week for the Spiders and they will defeat the Dukes and hand them their 1st CAA loss of the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

I expect a low scoring game but a possible return of Ben Roethlisberger will make enough plays to pull off a division win.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: New York Giants

Eagles gave the game away against the Cowboys last week and I see them losing this matchup to the Giants as they remain winless in division games and on the road .

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

What a great performance by Derek Carr vs Bucs last week but the Broncos defense will force the Raider to make mistakes as Denver will win a big one on the road.

will-12Will Armbruster, 8News Digital Producer (Last week – 5-3, Overall – 40-24)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Freeman Rebels

Talk about a toss-up …  Unbeaten Douglas Freeman at home seems like the pick, but 8-1 Hermitage is fully capable of handing the Rebels their first loss of the season.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

I think it will be closer than Vegas is predicting (they have the Tech as double-digit favorites on the road), but I like the Hokies on the road.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

Not saying LSU doesn’t have a shot, but is anyone really picking against ‘Bama?

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers

UVA continues to grow under first-year coach Bronco Mendenhall (as evident by last week’s near upset over Louisville).

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

Biggest game of the season for both teams. I want to take UR at home, but my gut tells me JMU continues its strong play and gets the W.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

I think Le’Veon Bell has a huge game and leads the Big Ben-less Steelers to a critical road win over their division rivals.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: New York Giants

The Eagles have been really impressive, but it seems like you never know which team to expect week-to-week. I like Eli and the Giants offense to run wild at home.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Oakland Raiders

The dark days in Oakland are over. The Raiders, led by breakout QB David Carr, are legit.

MitchMitch Carr, 8Sports Director (Last week – 7-1, Overall – 40-24)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Hermitage Panthers

It pains me to pick against the alma mater (two years in a row), but I don’t think Freeman has the depth to go a full 48 with Herm.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

That road win at Pitt was impressive. I expect the Hokies will remember the Syracuse loss enough not to duplicate it.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

It’s just dumb to pick another pro-style offense team against the Tide.

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers

Wake Forest has no offense and got beat at home by triple option running Army. The defense is good, but I think the ‘Hoos will find a way to crack it.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: James Madison Dukes

The Dukes have the best offense in the country at any level. There I said it.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Baltimore Ravens

This pick is dependent on Big Ben NOT playing. I’d pick the Steelers if he were in.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

The Giants still aren’t very good, and I think it has to do with a poor running game. Also, the Eagles’ D has been overshadowed by the Wentz Wagon, but the defense is really good.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

Derek Carr will quickly lead the Broncos’ D is not the Bucs’ D.

Kerri webKerri O’Brien, 8News Investigative Reporter (Last week – 6-2, Overall – 39-25)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Hermitage Panthers

All good things come to an end and I think this is the week Douglas Freeman has its first loss.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

Hokies they got better D and a better offense averaging more points per game than Duke’s offense.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

LSU is playing better but Alabama is still a powerhouse all the way around. Roll Tide!

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Demon Deacons could be bowl eligible with a win over the UVA. They will be gunning for it.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

Going with the home field advantage here.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Baltimore Ravens

Big Ben is expected to play against the Ravens but I think he’s still banged up and I am going with the Ravens.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

This pick is always trouble for me. The Eagles have not won a game on the road and this is away at the Meadowlands. However, I really believe the Giants are not good. I know, I have said that before but really, this time I mean it!

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Oakland Raiders

This is going to be a tough call. Both teams are 6-2 and coming off wins.  I think I like the Raiders offense better in this contest.

amanda-malkowskiAmanda Malkowski, 8News Good Morning Richmond Anchor (Last week – 6-2, Overall – 37-27)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Freeman Rebels

Freeman for me as well! Someone in my household is an alum and I must support!

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

I’ve picked tech wrong pretty much all season. I’m going to go with them this week though because I think they’ll have some confidence after their win over Pitt.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama on the boom box, baby…(country song lyric).

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers

This should be a good one. I think Virginia will come out on top, but it could be either team.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

Richmond has been kinda all over the place this season, but I hope they can pull it out on their home turf. They started out strong.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Baltimore Ravens

Yep, I’m picking against my own team. It looks like Ben will probably be out, and I just don’t trust our back up. Pretty devastating…

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: New York Giants

Giants… sorry Kerri!

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

This will be fun to watch. I think Denver will win, though.

tracey-smith-web-2Tracey Smith, 8News Reporter (Last week – 7-1, Overall – 37-27)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Freeman Rebels

I’m going with Freeman again this week. Their record speaks for itself.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

I’m sorry Duke but I matter what I’ll consider you a basketball school.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

As always, I won’t root against Bama. Roll tide.

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers

My mother is a Wake Forest alumna, but that doesn’t mean I have to stay loyal to them. Go Cavaliers!

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: James Madison University Dukes

J-M-U DUUUUUKKKKEEESSS! Really no surprise here. I am a proud JMU graduate and you best believe I’ll be rooting for the Dukes.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

Is there a surprise here either? I hate the Ravens and no game gets me boiling quite like this matchup. I hope our bye week pays off. I’ll have my terrible towel ready (for tears of joy or heartbreak.)

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

Well except for last week’s overtime loss, I have been impressed with the Eagles this season.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

Denver will take this one and hopefully help my pigskin pick record.

Chip VT 2Chip Brierre, 8Sports Anchor (Last week – 6-2, Overall – 32-32)

Hermitage Panthers @ Freeman Rebels

Pick: Freeman Rebels

Let me go ahead and beat Robb to the punch. This is a coin flip for me as Freeman is unbeaten and Herm looks daunting, but which teams will we get on Friday? My coin flipped Freeman, so Rebels for me.

Virginia Tech Hokies @ Duke Blue Devils

Pick: Virginia Tech Hokies

Getting that win over Pitt got a huge monkey off its back by taking the driver’s seat in the Coastal with confidence. No slip ups and Justin Fuente will be well on his way to the ACC title game.

Alabama Crimson Tide @ Louisiana State Tigers

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide

Bama can’t be beat.

Virginia Cavaliers @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Pick: Virginia Cavaliers

I think Virginia took another step forward, it will show in Winston-Salem.

James Madison University Dukes @ Richmond Spiders

Pick: Richmond Spiders

I don’t know how, but I have this feeling that Spiders defense will remind JMU how good it is even with its injuries. What the Spiders have done with their losses to injuries is astounding. Also this is JMU’s 2nd tough test, Richmond has had 4 (UVA, TOW, NOVA, ALBANY)

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers

Pitt needs to reestablish they are a team to look out for in the AFC.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants

Pick: New York Giants

The loss to Cowboys will linger and the Giants are desperate.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Pick: Denver Broncos

My favorite matchup so far this season. Denver D vs Derek Carr. Trevor Siemian will quietly win the Broncos the game, while Von Miller does Von Miller things to the Raiders O-Line.
