State officials will tour Ashland Tuesday to see impact of proposed third rail

ASHLAND, Va. (WRIC) — State officials will tour Ashland Tuesday morning to see firsthand how the proposed third rail could impact the town.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board wants to pull a new platform not too far from the current station that would be three football fields long and run through the Randolph-Macon College campus and through the downtown area.

In Tuesday’s visit, the board will tour the town after the presentation that will start at 11 a.m. at the Ashland Theater.

There will not be public comments, but the community is welcome to sit on the presentation.
