Highland Springs OT Becton ready to meet Jim Harbaugh on Michigan visit

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Mekhi Becton doesn’t make the highlight reel very often, but the results of his play are all over the place. The 6’7″ 345-pound mammoth left tackle looks like an NFL player now, even though he is just a high school senior at Highland Springs.

Along with Benedictine linebacker Ellis Brooks, Becton is one of the area’s top recruits, and earlier this week he announced that he will take his first official visit this weekend. Becton will visit the University of Michigan, which plays a home game against Maryland. Former Collegiate quarterback Wilton Speight is one former Richmond area recruit currently with the Wolverines.

Becton said he is looking forward to experiencing a game in the Big House and also looking forward to meeting UM Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

Before leaving for Ann Arbor, though, Becton and the #2 Springers play at archrival Varina. Then it is on to the 5A South playoffs, where they will likely be the #1 seed on the Richmond side of the bracket.
