Mandatory water restriction lifted for Petersburg residents

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The mandatory water restriction issued in the City of Petersburg has been lifted Tuesday morning.

The restriction came Monday evening after a water main break occurred in the Battersea area of the city.

Interim City Manager Tom Tyrrell told 8News the break was repaired at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Tyrrell also said the water levels in the city did not reach critical levels, thus preserving the water quality and eliminating the need for a boil water advisory.
