HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The man who was killed after he was shot following a home invasion in Henrico County Saturday morning has been identified as a recent Glen Allen High School graduate.
The deceased man has been identified as 19-year-old Taivon Maquell Fox. Family members told 8News Taivon was a popular student who excelled on the football field; the 19-year old played for Glen Allen High School before graduating last year.
“Wherever Taivon went, it’s like he didn’t have any enemies, everybody loved him, crazy about him,” Fox’s uncle, Alvin Fox, Sr. told 8News. “There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. Any position on that field he could play, quarterback, running back, receiver; he could play it.”
Fox’s grandmother, Ann Middleton, added, “When he graduated, his teachers spoke highly of him while he was in school, they loved him, and his coach, oh God, he really loved him.”
Meanwhile, Fox’ grandfather, John Middleton, thinks there is more to his grandson’s death. He believes his grandson knew the man who killed him and doesn’t think it was following a home invasion.
“Nobody’s perfect, he made some mistakes in life just like you made mistakes and we made mistakes in life,” J. Middleton said. “But what I’m trying to say he paid dearly for the mistake he made I don’t believe it was a home invasion; I don’t believe that. No, no, no.”
Henrico County Police were called to the area of the 8800 block of Three Chopt Road early Saturday morning to investigate a male body lying in the grass nearby. According to the Henrico County Police, the victims from the home invasion foiled the robbery by discharging their firearm at the intruders, striking both.
Upon arrival of rescue personnel, an adult male was found on the ground with wounds consistent with a shooting. Shortly thereafter, another male was located with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to an area hospital, where one male succumbed to his wounds.
While police were on scene, information developed that the two individuals injured from the shooting had fled from a home invasion.
The victims from the home invasion attempt thwart off the would-be robbers by discharging their firearm at the intruders, striking both of them.
Henrico Police Detectives have collected evidence and conducted interviews to aid in determining what occurred during this incident.
This is an ongoing investigation at this time and no charges have been placed.
