Henrico man charged with killing daughter arrested for DUI

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico County man charged with killing his infant daughter was arrested for DUI over the weekend.

In March, 22-year-old Diquan Burns charged with murder in the death of his 7-week-old daughter, Trinitie Burns, who died in January after suffering a skull fracture and two brain bleeds. D. Burns was later released on a $35,000 bond.

Early Sunday morning, police say D. Burns was arrested and charged with DUI. He is now back in jail.

According to grand jury indictments, police believe D. Burns accidentally killed his baby girl. Burns claims he was taking care of his daughter at his parents’ home in eastern Henrico County when he told investigators he went to “grab her out” of her swing when “the back and right side” of her head hit that swing.

The infant’s mother arrived the next day to find a knot on the right side of her daughter’s head. Both parents took Trintie to the hospital after she wouldn’t wake up. She died four days later.
