Richmond Police investigating 2 possibly connected shootings

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police said that they are investigating after a shooting took place in Richmond’s Fairfield community, near Armstrong High School early Sunday morning.

Police say they found a man suffering a gunshot wound in the leg on Fairfield Avenue off of North 23rd Street, but they believe the incident happened a block away on Newbourne Street.

They also said another man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound around the same time who is now in critical condition.

Police said that they believe the two incidents may be related.

Otherwise, police said that the man suffering the gunshot wound in the leg is expected to recover.

There is no suspect information available at this time and police did not give a possible motive as they are still in the early stages of their investigation of this crime.
