NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Three workers were injured during a flash fire at the Colonna Shipyard, Saturday evening.
An official with Norfolk Fire & Rescue, says the emergency call came in at 4:29 p.m. The call was originally about two people being hurt. When units arrived they found three victims with various burns.
The fire was ruled under control around 5:25 p.m.
Three workers were burned while working on the McFarland in a dry dock. All were transported to Norfolk Sentara General’s trauma unit.
Initial reports were that the workers were injured in a flash fire in the engine room of the vessel.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
There is no other information at this time.
