HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico County Police officer charged in connection with a December shooting could learn his fate in court Friday.
Officer Joel D. Greenway is facing charges of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and the use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Officer Greenway testified that he approached a car that was idling at a gas station on Nine Mile Road. When Greenway got close, the car drove off and hit him. Greenway then fired shots into the car.
The passenger in the car, Kimberly McNeil, was shot four times.
On the first day of the trial, McNeil testified that when Officer Greenway knocked on her window, she didn’t comply because Greenway never identified himself as a police officer.
McNeil is also suing Officer Greenway for $75 million in damages.
8News will be in the courtroom when the trial continues at 10 a.m. Friday.
