Virginia Beach police officer hurt after crashing cruiser

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach police officer is recovering from minor injuries after a crash late Wednesday night.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Rosemont Road near Interstate 264.

Police say the officer was trying to conduct a traffic stop when he crashed his car. There were no other vehicles involved.

Paramedics took the officer to the hospital for minor injuries, where he  is expected to be OK.

Investigators have not released any details about how or why he crashed.
