8News visits William A. Walton Elementary School

PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WRIC) — On Tuesday 8News anchors Evanne Armour and Whitney Harris spent the evening at W. A. Walton Elementary School to celebrate Family Reading Night.

About 500 students and parents came out for the event.

Other guest readers included Lt. Paul Burroughs from the Prince George Police Department, McGruff The Crime Dog, country singer Brittany Marie, martial artist Carter Tuck and members of the Virginia State University baseball team.

In addition to reading, there was a performance by the Eagle Choir, funnel cakes, bingo, a pumpkin auction, hot dog dinner, s’mores and more.

The school’s book fair is open all week.
