PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Dironna Moore Belton is no longer serving as the Petersburg Acting City Manager. According to the Robert Bobb Group, which was recently hired to help turn around city services, she has been returned to her former position in the transportation department.
The new acting city manager is Tom Tyrrell, an employee with the Robert Bobb Group.
Late Tuesday, Belton spoke to the media as she walked out of City Hall, shoulder-to-shoulder with Robert Bobb and his team.
“As I said to the mayor and to city council, I very much appreciate the opportunity to have served the community, my hometown of the City of Petersburg in the acting city manager role,” Belton said.
Belton also praised the group responsible for relieving her of her position as acting city manager.
“I am again very excited about the Robert Bobb group and the things they will do to help move the City of Petersburg forward,” Belton added. “I do thank everyone for their support and their prayers.”
Robert Bobb himself said Belton should be proud of the work she’s done for the city.
“There has been a lot of concerns with respect to the interim city manager, and let me just say that the interim city manager has been extraordinarily professional, cooperative, she’s done a yeoman’s job in terms of trying to stabilize the city Government,” Bobb said.
Bobb says Belton should be a candidate when the time comes to find a full time replacement.
“When we pull out, when we go through a recruitment process I am certain that, I not saying I’m certain, but I would expect that she would be one of the candidates who would compete for the permanent position,” said Bobb.
