8News Daily Poll: Should UVA coaches be held liable if hazing allegations prove to be true?

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — UVA football coaches spoke out recently for the first time after a former football player filed a lawsuit saying he was bullied and hazed while in the program.

Aidan Howard claims he was forced to wrestle in the nude and fight another student with nearly 100 people watching.

He suffered a concussion and a broken orbital bone in the alleged incident.

Offensive Coordinator Robert Anae spoke about the allegations.

“In the American system, you’re presumed innocent until proven,” Anae said. “So that’s my take on the American system. Those were allegations and you know, right now, we’re just gonna leave them at that.”

Some would argue that if these allegations prove to be true, that the coaching staff is at least partly responsible for the actions of their team.
