RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A memorial celebration was held today at the Richmond Police Memorial statue.

The event took place at 11 a.m. at the statue which was recently moved to Byrd Park, at the intersection of Trafford Road and Blanton Avenue.

The 8-foot-tall bronze statue depicts a Richmond officer carrying a child clutching a teddy bear.

The statue was erected to honor the lives of officers who died in the line of duty.
