5K race to be held for Manchester teacher battling rare stomach cancer

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Hundreds are expected to attend a 5K event to raise money for the Manchester High School teacher who is battling a rare form of stomach cancer.

The 5K event is being held to raise money for Suzi Burnside, a valued and loved member of the Manchester High School community.

Suzi works as a special education teacher at Manchester High School and was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of stomach cancer.

She is also a single mother of two adoptive children.

The event will take place Saturday, November 5th at 9 a.m. at Manchester High School.

Registration for the event is $30 and includes a t-shirt.

To register, applicants can fill out the following form and email to SuziStrong5K@gmail.com or send it in by mail at 16307 Midnight Xing, Moseley, VA 23120.

Organizers are using #suzistrong5k to identify related information on social media.
