CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Chesterfield County Police Department is working with several other organizations to help community members safely dispose of expired and unneeded medications on Saturday.

The Chesterfield PD will partner with Bon Secours St. Francis Watkins Centre, SAFE, Chesterfield Sheriff’s Office, and the DEA.

The Chesterfield County Police department are hosting the medication take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bon Secours St. Francis Watkins Centre facility at 601 Watkins Center Parkway.

Police and volunteers will be on hand to collect unused or expired prescription, over-the-counter and veterinary medications.

Residents should leave medications in their original containers.

Needles, syringes and other “sharps” will not be accepted.

Turning in expired and unused medications helps prevent medication abuse and protect the environment.
