DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police report that a single person died after an early Friday morning crash on I-85 S near Route 703 in Dinwiddie County.
Authorities said the crash occurred around just around 6 a.m.
A driver travelling south on I-85 ran off the road to the left before overcorrecting, then back left, before running off the roadway and striking several trees.
The 19-year-old male driver was ejected onto the roadway where he was struck by a driver coming from the opposite direction who was unable to avoid him.
The driver died at the scene.
A second 17-year-old male passenger was transported to Southside Regional Hospital and later to MCV with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.
