RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Friday night was a big one for the Huguenot Falcons. Down 21-0 to Clover Hill after the first quarter, the Falcons stormed back to take the game 42-35 and broke multiple streaks in the process.
The win was Huguenot’s first over Clover Hill since 2007 and the first over any Chesterfield County team since 2009. With two wins by Week 8, Huguenot has the chance to win three games for the first time since 2009 as well.
A major reason for the win and the end of all these streaks was the Falcons’ QB Merlys Manuel. the junior threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns in the final three quarters. Head Coach Bryan Jennings says Manuel is a true quarterback, meaning he is not a converted running back or wide receiver as Jennings has used in the past.
The Falcons have a bye week before taking on #3 L.C. Bird on October 28th.
