(WAVY/WRIC) — On November 8, many voters nationwide will head to the polls to decide who will be the next president of the U.S. — among other things.
If you have not registered to vote yet in the 2016 General Election, today is the last chance. Registration ends at 5 p.m. for anyone looking to cast a ballot in Virginia.
If you do plan on voting, whether in-person or through an absentee ballot, you can register or update your existing information online.
This can be done at your local registrar’s office or at a Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) location.
While voter registration ends Monday, you have until November 1 to decide whether or not you want to request an absentee ballot.
Early voting is already underway in the 2016 Presidential Election as voters could begin submitting absentee ballots in late-September.
More information on voter registration for Virginia can be found at the Virginia Department of Elections website. In North Carolina, the registration deadline was extended for 36 counties due to Hurricane Matthew.
