Chimparoo baby carriers recalled due to fall hazard

(AP) — Chimparoo brand Trek baby carriers have been recalled due to the possibility of a strap loosening unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard.

The Chimparoo baby carrier is one that allows the user to carry a baby tummy to tummy, on the hip or on the back. “Chimparoo” is printed on the upper right-hand corner of the carrier and “Trek” is embroidered on the belt.

The carriers were sold at Children’s boutique stores, such as Granola Babies, of Costa Mesa, California, Eat/Sleep/Play, of Summerville, South Carolina, Top to Bottom, of Omaha, Nebraska, and from May 2016 through July 2016.

So far, only one incident of the strap loosening has been reported. No injuries have been reported.

About 130 have been sold in the United States and 1,000 were sold in Canada.

For more information, call Chimparoo at 855-289-5343 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, send an e-mail to or visit and click on “Product Recall” at the bottom of the page.
