Beach Road in Chesterfield County open after driver strikes power pole

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A driver struck a utility pole Thursday night in Chesterfield County, leaving a busy road closed for several hours and hundreds without power.

According to Dominion Power, almost 940 customers were without power temporarily as crews repaired the lines. But as of 6 a.m., crews finished repairing the utility pole and the power has been restored.

As of 6:40 a.m., Beach Road is now open for drivers and the accident scene is cleared.

Police said a Nissan sedan was traveling east on Beach Road at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday when it went off the road on the right side, lost control, and struck a utility pole.

The crash occurred just east of Nash Road. The utility pole snapped, causing various utility lines to fall across all lanes of Beach Road.

No one was injured in the crash, according to police.
