8News at the Box Office: The Accountant, Max Steel, Desierto, Kevin Hart: What Now?

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Ben Affleck is back on the big screen and he does have some special skills, but he is not playing the Dark Knight.

“The Accountant” finds Ben Affleck playing a small town CPA. In this thriller, yes, I said thriller, he’s hiding a big secret. He’s the money man for criminal organizations around the world. He takes on some legitimate clients to try to throw off federal tax investigators. The thriller costars Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. It’s rated R.

Kevin Hart is back with a new concert film this weekend. “Kevin Hart: What Now?” was shot in front of 50,000 fans at Philly’s Lincoln Financial Field. It’s the largest stand-up comedy concert ever. It’s rated R.

“Desierto” is the story of unarmed men and women trying to cross from Mexico into the U.S. who end up being hunted by a maniacal killer. Played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he sees them as little more than targets for shooting practice along the border. Co-starring Gael Garcia Bernal, the film is Rated R.

For the kids this weekend:
A young boy trying to fit in in a new town learns he has some superpowers in the new film “Max Steel.” He teams up with an alien with powers of his own to defeat sinister forces that are planning to do harm to the planet. The film, starring Andy Garcia and Maria Bello, is rated PG-13.
