VSU student pleads guilty to assault and battery

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Virginia State University student accused of sexually assaulting a classmate pled guilty to two counts of assault and battery and was sentenced to serve 1 year in jail today.

22-year-old Jermayne A. Waller pled guilty in relation to an incident involving a classmate late last year.

Authorities said that a woman reported to police that she, her roommate and Waller were in bed watching a movie in a dorm room when the alleged incident happened on December 1. After falling asleep, she says she was awakened after Waller touched her and began to have intercourse with her. The woman says she and her roommate fought him off and forced Waller out of the dorm room.

Waller was previously banned from campus until the outcome of the case.
