CIAA announces relocation sites for conference championship games

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WRIC) — Thursday afternoon the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced relocation sites for 8 of 10 conference championships in the 2016-2017 athletic season.

The CIAA is moving these events out of its state of operation, North Carolina, in reaction to the controversial HB2 law that impacts the LGBT community.

Here is the list of championship games that have been relocated and those that are staying put:

2016 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships – Richmond, Va. at Joseph Bryan Park on October, 27th, 2016

2016 Football Championship Game – Salem, Va. at Salem Stadium on November 12th, 2016

2017 Women’s and Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships – Liberty, Va. at Liberty University; February 12th – 13th, 2017

2017 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship Tournaments – Charlotte, N.C. at Time Warner Cable Arena; February 20th – 25th, 2017

2017 Women’s Tennis Championships – Bowie, MD at Bowie State University; April 19th – 22nd, 2017

2017 Women’s and Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships – Bowie, MD at Bowie State University; April 19th – 22nd, 2017
