POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Huguenot Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched yesterday to a strip mall to find the roof had been torn off of the building by strong winds.
The incident took place at the shopping center in the 2600 block of Anderson Highway (US Route 60).
According to a press release, the roof was a secondary roof added to the original building at some point.
During the incident, the roof landed on a vehicle that was parked nearby, however, no people were in the car. All of the businesses in the shopping center were closed at the time, so no people were hurt in the incident otherwise.
The fire marshal and building inspector responded to the scene to investigate.
