COROLLA, NC (WAVY) – Biologists with the shark research group Ocearch say they are tracking a 1,600 pound Great White shark off Corolla, North Carolina.

According to the group’s website, the Great White is a female named Miss Costa.  They started tracking on September 22nd when it was swimming off the coast of Cape Cod, Mass.

The group tags and tracks dozens of different species of sharks in order to study their migratory routes. 8News sister station, WAVY, first did a story with the group back in 2013 and showed video of how the group humanely tags the sharks.

There are many sharks up and down the east coast and around the world.  To track them for yourself, click here.
