Week’s worth of rain leads to flash flooding in the Tri-cities area

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — All the rain we’ve had this week in Central Virginia has caused some major flooding last night.

These photos, taken by an 8News viewer show flash-flooding along Broadway Street in Hopewell.

One photo shows a van up to its tail lights in water. A family took the image while driving home. The mother reported seeing a woman up to her waist in the flood waters.

Hopewell resident Jennifer Pickral described the damage.

“It was good that everybody was okay, no accidents, nobody stuck in the water but you could see it’s done damage to the flooded cars and the houses,” Pickral said.

8News has not received any reports of injuries as a result of the flash flooding.
