CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Thunderstorms didn’t just leave thousands without power Wednesday night — they also caused two homes to catch fire.
Crews in Henrico and Chesterfield counties responded to separate house fires they say were caused by lightning.
The first incident occurred in the 900 block of Jamerson Place, near Twin Hickory Elementary School, in Henrico County.
A spokesperson with Henrico Fire said smoke was seen coming from the rear of the two-story home and that the fire was hidden in the rear walls of the home. Crews suspect that a lightning strike caused the blaze.
The second incident occurred in the 4100 block of October Road in north Chesterfield County.
Officials tell 8News that no one was injured during either incident.
