New tasty treats to test taste buds at Virginia State Fair

DOSWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Mom and Dad, get the family ready! The Virginia State Fair opens its gates Friday morning with all the favorites and more this year.

The fair is set to have all the classic fried food favorites, such as fried Oreos. But there’s also unique creations that will test the taste buds including ‘breakfast on the stick’ (sausage and bacon wrapped in a pancake), strawberry donut shortcake, crab and blue cheeseburger, ‘guacadog,’ deep fried pop tarts, bacon ice-tea, and even chocolate dipped corn on the cob.

One should also not forget the fair’s goal to mix agriculture education and fun with its backyard exhibit to the Young Macdonald’s tent where children can interact with animals of all sizes.

Richmond-area Food Lion stores are offering coupons good for $5 off the purchase of a weekday unlimited ride wristband if five cans of their products are donated.

The gates open Friday and will last through October 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
