Hopewell man arrested in Henrico County after lengthy police chase


HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Hopewell man was arrested early this morning after he led police on a high-speed chase through several counties.

Tommie M. Vanderhoff, 22, was charged with multiple crimes as a result of the incident, involving a motorcycle.

The event began when Vanderhoff fled police when they tried to pull him over for driving 108 in a 55 MPH zone on Route 5 in Charles City County.

Troopers pursued his vehicle down I-295 and onto I-64 where Vanderhoff crashed the motorcycle.

Vanderhoff then got up and fled on foot before officers apprehended him without incident and transported him to the hospital with minor injuries.

Vanderhoff is charged with reckless driving for going 108 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, felony eluding, driving with a revoked license (4th offense), improper registration, no insurance, no state inspection, no motorcycle license and improper passing.

Once released from the hospital he will be transported to the Henrico West Jail.
