Henrico County school bus driver veers off road into ditch, no students harmed

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — According to officials from Henrico County Schools, a bus headed to Tuckahoe Elementary veered off the road into a shallow ditch Thursday morning with students on board.

No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, and another bus was sent to take the students to school.

The bus driver apparently suffered from an unnamed medical emergency at the time of the accident. This in turn led another Henrico County employee on the bus to take control and steer the vehicle to the shoulder where it came to rest in a ditch.

The driver was taken to the hospital and is currently receiving medical care.

It is unclear at this time how many students were on the bus at the time of the incident.

The incident occurred on the 8100 block of Larcom Lane in Henrico County around 7:30 a.m.
