Williams, Brown making impacts after injuries for Hokies and ‘Hoos

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Tech stands at 2-1 while Virginia is still looking for its first win, but each team has a great story about a player coming back from injuries to make an impact.

At Virginia Tech, it’s Marshawn Williams. The running back tore his ACL in 2014. He tried to return in 2015, but he re-injured himself and took a medical hardship year. Saturday against Boston College, Williams led the team with 81 yards rushing on 15 carries.

At Virginia, defensive lineman Andrew Brown had a great game against UConn. Brown was the Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year when he committed to Virginia out of Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake). He has suffered through toe and shoulder injuries, but Saturday he had seven tackles, 3.5 of them for loss.
