DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A grand jury has recommended that former Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Deputy Terrell Coles not be prosecuted for fatally shooting his brother, Brandon Coles, last month.

The grand jury found that T. Coles, 24, acted in self defense when he shot and killed his brother, B. Coles, at the former deputy’s home in the early-morning hours of Sunday, August 21. They suggest that “further prosecution efforts against Terrell Coles are not warranted or not advised.”

T. Coles, who was released from jail on a $5,000 bond last month, is scheduled to appear in Dinwiddie Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court on October 4.
