CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A heavy police presence descended upon Jahnke Road near the ramp to Chippenham Parkway where a high-speed pursuit ended with a crash Wednesday night.

A spokesperson with Virginia State Police said the pursuit began Wednesday evening in Albemarle County after troopers attempted a possibly armed suspect who was driving on a suspended license. The pursuit continued on I-64 into the City of Richmond, at times reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph.

Authorities say the crash ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into two state police vehicles after troopers deployed stop sticks to deflate the suspect’s tires. The male driver was arrested and taken to Chippenham Hospital with minor injuries. A female occupant was not taken into custody nor injured.

No troopers were injured during the pursuit or crash.
