Texas homecoming king gives up crown to friend with cerebral palsy

FORT WORTH, Texas (WRIC) — When nominated homecoming king, a star high school quarterback from Texas gave his crown away to his best friend.

Max Akin and KL Norwood have been friends since 5th grade.

KL Norwood is the football team’s manager and popular throughout school, but he cannot play himself because he suffers from cerebral palsy.

When it came time to announce the homecoming king, Max gave the crown to his friend.

He described why when asked about it later.

“I think it should have gone to the person who positively uplifts the school and everybody around him, and that person is KL for sure,” Akin said.

The story has received thousands of likes on social media in the area.
